Azerbaijani gymnast wins bronze medal in international tournament in Slovakia

Azerbaijani gymnast Samira Mustafayeva won bronze medal during the international tournament in Slovakia, the Azerbaijani Gymnastics Federation told Trend .

She got the third result scoring 23.85 in final exercise with ribbon, the Federation said. Mustafayeva reached medal podium together with Byelorussian and Russian gymnasts in the central sports complex of Bratislava.

Ranking the fourth place, Samira slightly failed to get medal in other final exercises with skipping-rope and ball. She took the eighth place while performing exercise with hoop. Regarding with all-round competitions, she ranked the sixth place scoring 92.275.

"Mustafayeva performed exercises stably but as a coach I can not be satisfied with present work. There is a lot of work for us in future," coach Marina Govorova said.

Other Azerbaijani gymnast Anna Gurbanova performed in Kiev's tournament of Grand-Prix series within preparation for the Championship of Europe in Baku to be held in a month. 

Anna ranked the eighth place and scored 96.85. She performed her best result with skipping-rope ranking the sixth place and scoring 24.875. Anna Bessonova, not performing since early 2009, was announced the winner. Scoring more than 5 points, Bessonova left behind Russian gymnast Daria Kondakova. Israeli Irina Risenzon ranked the third place.

After Kiev, Gurbanova will leave for Portuguese town Portimao. Gurbanova will participate in World Cup competition together with team friends - Aliya Garayeva, Zeynab Javadli and adult group collective (Vafa Huseynova, Dina Gorina, Anastasiya Prasolova, Valeriya Egay, Jeyla Guliyeva and Nigar Mirzoyeva). The competiton will be held on April 17-19.  

The international tournament with participation of Azerbaijani junior group team will be held there (Sabina Abbasova, Nigar Abdusalimova, Evgeniya Zhidkova, Aelita Khalafova, Kamila Mammadova and Lala Maharramova).

Another international tournament will be held late in the end of this week. Junior competition with participation of Ekaterina Prokopenko (12) and Lala Yusifova (13) will be held in Astrakhan from April 15-18.
