On Sept. 30, the cultural center of the Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan hosted a regular meeting of State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons.
Opening the meeting, the Chairman of the State Commission Eldar Mahmudov said that Commission's international relations expanded, search measures in connection with the missing people were strengthened, the Commission told Trend .
At the meeting was noted that requests for 1,082 missing people were sent to the state agencies and international organizations. Upon the request of the department on cooperation with law-enforcement agencies of the Presidential Administration, the information was provided in electronic format to the lawyers who defend the interests of Azerbaijan in the European Court on Human Rights.
The Commission and the International Committee of the Red Cross analyzed and entered into database the information on 932 persons registered as missing. Relatives of 243 missing people were received. In addition, fate of 212 persons was clarified, who were removed from the list of missing people.
During the reported period, were freed two Azerbaijani army soldiers and a civilian hostage, and one soldier dead body was taken from the Armenian side.
Five soldiers and one civilian, who were captured on the line of contact, were returned to the Armenian side and another Armenian soldier, who asked not to return to his country, was sent to the third country through the UN High Commission for Refugees.
As of Sept. 1, the commission registered 1396 people released from captivity.
