An Azerbaijani court issued verdict on poachers charged of attempting to kill an inspector of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
On Nov. 3, the Serious Crimes Court sentenced Jeyhun Aliyev to 11-year and 3-month imprisonment. Vusal Mirzoyev will serve a 3-year suspended sentence.
A 23-year-old resident of the Girzan village in the Tovuz region, Vusal Mirzoyev and 31-year-old resident of Bozalganli village, Jeyhun Aliyev were engaged in illegal fishing in the Kura river in the Duz Girigli village of the Tovuz region.
At about 01:00 on May 17, receiving a warning from the inspector of the Environment and Natural Resources Ministry, Mahmoud Akhundov, Aliyev shot at this employee from his eyes with a hunting rifle, as well as the residents of the village, Aydin Hasanov - from the back.
Aliyev is accused under Articles 29,120.2.3, 29,120.2.4, 29,120.2.7 (attempt to murder) of the Criminal Code, Mirzoyev - 315 (resisting the authorities).
