Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 15 / Trend K.Zarbaliyeva /
Some individuals create artificial boom due to the illegally built mosques, State Committee for Working with Religious Associations Chairman Hidayat Orujov said today.
"Mosques in Azerbaijan are not destroyed and will not be destroyed," he told journalists. "Only illegal buildings are demolished. Some individuals create an artificial buzz over worship objects, instead of getting the permission in accordance with the law," Hidayat Orujovsaid.
Over the last year the mosque of the Prophet Mohammed and the mosque at the Oil Rocks were demolished in Baku in connection with their illegal construction.
According to Orujov, one of the changes made to the "Law on freedom religion" refers to the conclusion made by the commission concerning the construction of worship objects.
He said that there is no need in opening special stores for sale of religious books.
"Religious books can be sold in bookstores," he added.
