The Azerbaijani team attended the first phase of the ice-climbing World Cup 2010 in Kirov city of Russia.

The Azerbaijani Air and Extreme sports Federation organized the tournament which brought together 68 athletes from 16 countries participated in the competitions, the Federation told Trend today

The Azerbaijani team ranked 18th among the men and 17th among the women with participation of 48 men and 26 women in the competition

The Azerbaijani referees attended the workshops on ice-climbing organized during the competitions and received international certificates of the International Mountaineering and Climbing Federation (UIAA).   

The Azerbaijani national team obtained a good experience while competing with strong representatives of this sport. This will allow athletes to learn more about ice climbing technique and to improve the sport in the country, the Federation said

The Federation is planning to organize first ice- climbing tournament within the country.
