Various religious organizations in Azerbaijan maintain good relations, Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO) Chairman Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade said during a "roundtable" dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations on Tuesday.
"Today, believers rely on God and the country's laws. During its ten-year existence, the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations have executed laws and contributed to establishing good relations among the various religious organizations," Pashazade said.
He said the National Leader Heydar Aliyev has laid the foundation for strengthening the state-religious relations and their development in Azerbaijan.
"I believe that Azerbaijan will win its next victory with God's help, and aggression against the country will be prevented," Sheikh-ul-Islam said.
Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Hidayat Orujov spoke about the work done over ten years at the opening of the event and also mentioned existing problems.
Orujov said that work is currently underway to prevent harmful religious tendencies; problems also exist among persons without religious affiliations, but who speak about religion. These are individuals who present themselves as religious figures but are actually pursuing political goals. The Committee will attempt to eliminate these problems in the future, he said.
"Our main goal is to address the problems of religious organizations and to be constantly interested in finding solutions to problems at these organizations. Work to make this possible is constantly pursued", Orujov said.
