BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug.17
By Jeyhun Alakbarov - Trend:
Construction work at the third metro station of the "purple" line (B3) in Baku, located opposite the Main Clinical Hospital of the Armed Forces (Military Hospital) on Jeyhun Salimov Street, is nearing completion, Spokesperson for Baku Metro CJSC Bakhtiyar Mammadov told Trend.
According to Mammadov, the work is carried out under the supervision of the company.
"The station consists of three levels; currently, the work on the construction of a section from ground level to platform level is being completed,” the spokesman said.
“At the same time, work is underway in all areas related to the organization of traffic in the future,” he noted. “As was earlier reported, the installation of escalators and elevators has been completed, and in addition, the necessary communication installation process is underway to organize traffic at the station. Currently, work on the construction of road infrastructure is nearing completion.”
He also noted that after commissioning of the station, the Khojasan depot is also expected to be commissioned.
"The work at the Khojasan depot also consists of three stages, the first of which supposedly will be completed after the transfer of station B3 for use. Currently, very important work has been done to create road infrastructure on the section from the Avtovaghzal station to Khojasan," Mammadov stressed.
Touching upon the COVID-19 pandemic impact on the operations, the spokesperson said that most of the equipment and systems used in the Baku Metro are imported from abroad.
"Part of the work in the metro depends on the imports; therefore, if the situation develops in a positive direction, the B3 station will be commissioned by the end of the year," Mammadov concluded.
