The Ombudsman of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova took part in the workshop on the subject “The Framework Convention on Protection of National Minorities”, the Ombudsman’s office told Trend.
Suleymanova told in detail the workshop participants on the work done in the human rights defense field and protection of rights of the small in number people. She noted, Azerbaijan, rich from the standpoint of geopolitical, strategic location and its natural resources became the homeland for innumerous national and ethnic minorities, which are equal citizens of our country.
The Ombudsman said one of the lines of her activities is the fight against discrimination, preventing of such cases and raising awareness in this field.
Suleymanova signed agreements on the mutual cooperation with 7 foreign Institutes of Ombudsman.
