Shakhriyar Mamedyarov wins festival in Spain

Azeri grand master Shakhriyar Mamedyarov has shared first place at large festival В"Villa canada de CalatravaВ" that ended recently in San-Sebastian.

Trend reports that prior to the final games worlds twice champion among youngsters had fallen behind the leader Alexander Gritshuk, Russia. But successful ending of the contest enabled Mr Mamedyarov gain the same scores as his rival did and share with him the main prize in amount of $18, 000. Chess players Andrey Shekochev, Aleksey dreev and Munias Pantoia fell 0.5 points behind and shared the third place.

The contest gathering over 150 players was conducted by Swiss nine-tour system.
