AIDS not Found in Sex Partners of 17-Year-Old Azerbaijani Girl

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Zarbaliyeva / AIDS was not found in the sex partners of seventeen-year-old, Elnara Ahmadova, a carrier of the virus. The Prosecutor of the Baku City Nasimi District, Agshin Ziyadov, reported to Trend on 10 August that AIDS has not been found in the twenty men who passed the examination. The prosecutor said that the investigation of the criminal case and the search for persons who had intimate relations with the girl is underway.

According to Ziyadov, Ahmadova is kept in the Investigation Cell 3 under medical control.

A criminal case was filed in Nasimi District Police Department in accordance with Article 140.1 (deliberate threatening of a life with AIDS contamination). Ahmadova was sentenced to imprisonment.

On 18 August 2003, Elnara Ahmadova, seventeen, was delivered to Dermatovenerologic Dispensary of the Ramana settlement. Blood analysis held in the Republican Centre for Combating AIDS revealed the girl tested positive for the virus. She was registered at the Centre.

On 28 August of the same year, a physician from the Centre visited the Ramana dispensary and held an epidemiological investigation. The patient was warned about the threat of virus transmissions.

During the recent two years the Centre had no information on Ahmadova's whereabouts. On 8 July, the Centre was informed of Ahmadova's residing in Umud Yeri children's home.

Ahmadova was serving her clients in the saunas of Surakhany and Khyrdalan regions, and the Masazyr and Ahmadli districts of Baku. The wish to return to a normal lifestyle drew Ahmadova to the Care for Children's Homes public association.
