Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / The Azerbaijani former Health Minister, Ali Insanov, demands that he be transferred to the prison's Medical Unit.
Elchin Behbudov, the Chairman of the Anti-Torture Committee of Azerbaijan, stated to Trend Agency on 14 August that he met with Insanov, who is being kept in Bayil Investigation Cell 1. Insanov made complaints due to the delay of his appeal, as well as his living conditions.
Rafael Mehtiyev, the Chief of the Centre Department of the Azerbaijani Justice Ministry, stated that Insanov has no serious health problems.
Notably, Mr. Insanov was arrested in October 2005 on the accusation of attempting to perform a coup d'etat. This month, by the decision made by the Azerbaijan Court for Serious Crimes, the former Health Minister was sentenced to eleven years imprisonment.
Presently, Insanov is kept in the Penal Service of the Bayil Investigation cell. The former Minister is demanding a transfer to the medical unit of the Penal Service so that he receives treatment for a herniated spine.
