Azerbaijan, Basku / Trend corr. К.Zarbaliyeva / The parents of the police chief murdered by a resident of Ganja, protest the case being considered by the Ganja Appeals Court, the parents reported.
The defendant, Zabit Kazimov was accused in accordance with Article 120.2.3 (wilful murder) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic.
A court-medical examination confirmed the results of the forensic examination that Ikram Khalilov died as a result of a punch thrown by Kazimov. The Grave Court incriminated the offender in accordance with Article 124 (reckless homicide) of the Criminal Code. Kazimov was sentenced to three year in prison.
The other defendant, Mammadov, was sentenced to three years of conditional imprisonment.
The process to appeal Kazimov's sentence will be decided by Judge Chingiz Mammadov in the Ganja Appeals Court on 13 September. The Prosecutor General and Khalilov's relatives demand that Kazimov's punishment be tougher.
