BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 20. The total value of food products imported by Azerbaijan increased from January through September 2022, Trend reports via the bulletin of the State Customs Committee.
According to the committee, this figure amounted to $1.61 billion, up by $292.4 million (22.13 percent) on annual basis.
In the first nine months, Azerbaijan imported over 28,910 tons of meat worth $51.92 million, 7,380 tons of milk ($12.9 million), 14,020 tons of dairy products ($80.96 million), 259,050 tons of vegetables and fruits ($164.61 million), 10,820 tons of tea (more than $55.4 million).
During the specified period, the country also imported more than 846,020 tons of wheat, barley, corn and rice worth over $318.7 million.
Meanwhile, the import of vegetable fats and oils amounted to nearly 99,320 tons worth more than $198.3 million.
At the same time, Azerbaijan’s import of tobacco and tobacco products grew by 9.76 percent year on year - up to $75.67 million.
From January through September this year, import volume of pharmaceutical products increased by 4,340 tons (26.59 percent) - up to 20,690 tons compared to the same period in 2021, and the import value - by $59.12 million (14.22 percent) - up to more than $474.8 million.
