Türkiye reveals volume of petrochemicals handled by local ports for 9M2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 31. Turkish ports handled over 57.3 million tons of petrochemicals from January through September 2022, Türkiye’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told TurkicWorld, Trend reports on October 31.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, Turkish-flagged ships transshipped 2.8 million tons of petrochemicals to Turkish ports, and ships flying the flags of other countries – over 54.4 million tons.

In September this year, Turkish ports totally handled 31.9 million tons of cargo.

In the reporting month, cargo transportation by ships under the flag of Türkiye through local ports amounted to 2.2 million tons, and by ships under the flags of other countries – 29.7 million tons.

Meanwhile, Turkish ports handled 6.6 million tons of transit cargo.

In the first nine months of 2022, Turkish ports totally received 269.5 million tons of cargo.

During the specified period, 21.3 million tons of cargo were transported by ships under Türkiye’s flag through local ports, and by ships under the flags of other countries – 275.2 million tons.

At the same time, Turkish ports handled 60.6 million tons of transit cargo.

In 2021, the ports of Türkiye received 386.39 million tons of cargo.

During the reporting year, freight transportation by Turkish-flagged ships via domestic ports amounted to 29.9 million tons, whereas the cargo traffic by ships flying other countries' flags reached 356.39 million tons.

Furthermore, Turkish ports transshipped 78 million tons of transit cargo last year.
