BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 10. A total of 66,873 Azerbaijani citizens received residence permits in Türkiye in 2022, the Interior Ministry of the country told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.
According to the ministry, 1,354,000 foreigners received a residence permit in Türkiye last year.
"The majority of foreign citizens (705,113 people) received a residence permit in Istanbul," the ministry said.
Last year, 161,434 received a temporary residence permit in Antalya, 84,346 in Ankara and 28,452 in Izmir.
The ministry noted that most of foreigners who received a temporary residence permit in 2022 were Russian citizens (149,859 people).
"Those who received the right to temporary residence in Türkiye last year were 132,041 citizens of Iraq, 115,000 citizens of Turkmenistan, 100,000 citizens of Syria, 95,000 citizens of Iran, 60,000 citizens of Uzbekistan, and 45,000 citizens of Kazakhstan,” the ministry also said.
“A large number of Azerbaijani citizens received a temporary residence permit as students of Turkish universities. Their number was 16,925 people," added the ministry.
