Azerbaijan sees uptick in agricultural output

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 19. Azerbaijan’s agricultural sector at current prices amounted to 1.96 billion manat ($1.15 billion) from January through April 2023, up by 3.5 percent compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports citing the report of the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

According to the report, livestock production in value terms increased by 3.5 percent, up to 1.79 billion manat ($1.05 billion), while crop production value reached 165.3 million manat ($97.2 million), rising by 3.2 percent.

Spring crops were planted on an area of 266,780 hectares as of May 1, 2023, including cereals and legume crops (including corn) on 22,340 hectares, potatoes on 45,900 hectares, and vegetables on 42,940 hectares.

From January through April 2023, Azerbaijan produced 187,300 tons of meat, 697,600 tons of milk and 726.5 million chicken eggs. The production of meat increased by 3.1 percent, milk - by 1.8 percent, and chicken eggs - by 13 percent compared to the same period in 2022.

Azerbaijan’s agricultural output at current prices amounted to 10.9 billion manat ($6.4 billion) in 2022, which is 3.4 percent higher than in 2021. The production of livestock products in value terms increased by 3.4 percent, to 5.4 billion manat ($3.1 billion), and in the field of crop production – by 3.3 percent, to 5.5 billion manat ($3.2 billion).

Azerbaijan’s agricultural output at current prices amounted to 9.16 billion manat ($5.39 billion) in 2021, which is 3.4 percent more than in 2020.

During this period, production in the livestock sector increased by 2.8 percent, to 4.6 billion manat ($2.7 billion), and in the field of crop production – by four percent, to 4.51 billion manat ($2.6 billion).
