BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 17. The port of Gemlik, located in the Turkish city of Bursa, received over 6.6 million tons of cargo from January through July 2023, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.
A total of 702,599 tons of cargo were transported from the port of Gemlik by ships under the flag of Türkiye, and 5.9 million tons by ships under the flags of other countries.
"A total of 358,357 tons of transit cargo were transported through the Gemlik port from January through July 2023," the ministry said.
The ports of Türkiye received 32.5 million tons of cargo in July 2023.
Cargo traffic to Turkish ports by vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 2.4 million tons, while under the flags of other countries - 30 million tons, during this period. In addition, a total of 6.1 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the Turkish ports in July 2023.
Moreover, Turkish ports received 227 million tons of cargo from January through July 2023. Cargo transportation by Turkish-flagged vessels through domestic ports amounted to 16.8 million tons.
Cargo transportation through the ports of Türkiye by vessels under the flags of other countries amounted to 210.2 million tons. In addition, Turkish ports handled 41 million tons of transit cargo in July 2023.
Turkish ports handled 81 million tons of transit cargo from January through July 2023.
