BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 9. TotalEnergies' hydrocarbon production in 2023 hit over 2.4 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d), Trend reports.

According to the company's latest report, this marked a 2-percent rise year-on-year (excluding Novatek).

This uptick was fueled by various factors, with a significant 4-percent boost coming from a number of projects, including Azerbaijan's Absheron field.

Other factors included launch and scaling up of projects like Johan Sverdrup Phase 2 in Norway, Mero 1 in Brazil, Ikike in Nigeria, Block 10 in Oman.

TotalEnergies has been present in Azerbaijan since 1996, where it is a 50% partner of SOCAR in the Absheron gas and condensate field and holds a 5% stake in the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline.

Currently, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), TotalEnergies, and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) are holding intensive consultations to expedite the final investment decision (FID) on the full-scale development of the Absheron field in the Caspian Sea. In case the FID is made by the end of 2024, the first gas from the full-scale development of Absheron can be obtained in 2028, an informed source told Trend.
