Large-scale road projects being implemented in Iran

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 12

About 1,200 kilometers of highways will be put into operation in Iran until the beginning of next Iranian year (March 21, 2021), Deputy Minister of Iran's Roads and Urban Development, CEO of Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructure Company Kheirollah Khademi told reporters at a meeting in Yazd Province, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Khademi said that at present, 7,800 kilometers of highways are being built in Iran.

In addition, five important controlled-access highways are under construction. In total, about 518 kilometers of these highways will be commissioned until beginning next Iranian year, the deputy minister stressed.

The CEO emphasized that four railways will be commissioned by the end of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021).

“The total length of these railways is 471 kilometers,” he said.
