Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend I.Khalilova / As at 1 September, 51,614 unemployed people were registered in Azerbaijan, with 50.7% of them women. Unemployment decreased by 5% in August. The State Statistics Committee stated that four people apply for one vacancy.
Over the reported period, the labour capable population of the country equalled 428,720. Of them, 399,900 work as hired employees. Of them, 20.4% work in the field of production, 13.2% - industry, 4.4% - construction and 2.8% - agriculture, forestry and fishing.
In the non-production sector, 25.4% of employees work in the field of education, 20.2% - wholesale and retail centres, car repair, domestic devises, 10.3% - health, 6.8% - transport and communications, 5.8% - community and social sector, 4.7% - real estate sale-purchase operations and 3.9% - State management and defence. The average unemployment allowance totals AZN 68.5.
