Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. U.Ismaylova / Low-quality China-made commodities will be withdrawn from the Azerbaijani market in the near future, Heydar Babayev, the Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development, said during the press-conference on 2 November.

"We intend to impose sanctions on makers and importers of China-made low-quality commodities in Azerbaijan," Babayev said.

The Ministry will announce the results of checks held in consumer markets of Azerbaijan.

Mattel Inc. is one of the largest firms producing toys for children in the US (the most popular toy is 'Barbie'). The company recalled some 18.2mln toys made in one of the company's factories in China, from American, Canadian, British, and Mexican markets. The world press reported that the director of the Chinese branch of the company committed suicide on 13 August.

The presence of detrimental impurities in China-made toys is one of the relevant issues of the recent months.

"We cannot impose ban on import of all China-made commodities, only import of low-quality commodities to Azerbaijan will be prohibited," Babayev said.
