Azerbaijan, Baku, 28 January / Trend corr. U.Ismaylova / The Labour Inspection at the Labour Ministry and Social Security is monitoring any violations by employers in the changes to the Code, Nabi Shukurlu, the head of Labour Inspection, stated.
Under the changes injected into the Code, the employers who hire foreign workers must contact the migration service to obtain a migration document. Should the employers comply, they will be fined the amount of AZN 38,500. Previously the fine totalled AZN 99.
According to Shukurlu, the monitoring revealed that employers became more cooperative with the migration service. The final results of the monitoring will be announced at the beginning of February.
Rauf Tagiyev, the head of the Migration Department, about 10,000 illegal immigrants live and work in Azerbaijan. The number of illegal labour migrants in Azerbaijan totalled 1,698 in December 2007.
