Khalilova/ In March 2008, the growth rate of prices for consumer goods and the tariffs for services totalled 3.1% as compared to Feb 2008, and in the first quarter (Q1) of 2008 the growth rate amounted to 16.5% as compared to the same period of 2007, the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan reported.
In March, the prices for foodstuffs increased by 4.5%, for non-foods by 0.8%, and for services by 1.9%.
As compared to the Q1 2007, the prices for foodstuffs rose by 21.8%, for non-foods by 9.5%, for services by 10.8%.
In March, the consumer prices' basic index, excluding goods and services depending on seasonal changes (fruits and vegetables) and those the prices for which are managed by the State, comprised 103.2%, and in Q1 2008 - 117.5%.
