Azerbaijan, Baku, 14 November / Trend corr. S.Babayeva / The first autumn monitoring on warning of bird flu in Azerbaijan in 2008 indicated the absence of this virus in the country, the State Veterinary Service at Agricultural Ministry released this information.
Carriers of the virus were revealed in none of the 26 samples of wild and 1,403 samples of domestic birds, the same source said.
The territories of Absheron Peninsula, Davachi, Salyan, Lankaran and Agjabadi was monitored by a special commission -consisting of specialists from the veterinary service at the Ecology, Health and Agriculture Ministries, Society of Hunters.
In general, this year as a result of four monitoring, more than 7,000 blood samples and pathological materials of domestic and wild birds were examined.
Last year, the State Service carried out 12 monitoring exercises none of which revealed the virus.
