Tbilisi hosts international road transport conference

A conference on highway construction technology is underway in Tbilisi.

The conference aims to establish partnerships between Georgian and foreign construction companies.

Georgian Prime Minister Nika Giluari made a speech at the conference. He described the business climate in Georgia to foreign companies.  

"We have provided the necessary conditions to conduct business in Georgia," Giluari said. 

The prime minister urged companies to invest in Georgia's infrastructure.

"These investments will recompense you hundredfold," he said.

The first stage of the conference will be dedicated to highway development in Georgia.

The second stage will focus on technology. 

The Georgian government will allocate 521 million lari to repair and build roads in the country. 

"Companies who have submitted applications to take part in the tender [on highway construction in Georgia] will attend the conference," Highways Department head Ramaz Nikolaishvili said.

"We want to inform them about developments and investments in this field," he added.
