Base index of Azerbaijani consumer prices surpasses inflation growth rate by 1.7 percent

Prices on consumer goods and service tariffs fell 0.8 percent in February compared to January and increased 10.3 percent in two months compared to the same period in 2008, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said.

Prices on foodstuffs fell 1.2 percent, non-foodstuffs - 0.2 percent and service tariffs - 0.1 percent in February.

Prices on consumer goods increased 11. 9 percent, non-foodstuffs - 8.5 percent and service tariffs - 7.5 percent compared to January-February 2008.

In February, the basic index of consumer prices totaled 99.1 percent.

The figure was 112 percent more than the index for the same period in 2008.

The basic index of consumer prices surpassed inflation growth rates by 1.7 percent.
