Gregory Mason named CEO of Severstal North America

Metal and mining company OAO Severstal has named Gregory Mason as the new CEO of Severstal North America.

Ronald Nock, former CEO of Severstal North America, will continue serving on the Board of Directors of Severstal North America Inc. Company officials said the change will strengthen the company's North American management team.

OAO Severstal chief executive Alexey Mordashov said the appointment ''will strengthen our North American management team. Gregory will continue playing a key role for the company as we respond to the global economic downturn and manage our business appropriately in order to remain an industry leader.''

Mason will also remain CEO of the Severstal International Division of OAO Severstal.

Severstal North America, Inc. ("SNA") ranks as the fourth largest integrated steel company in the United States with its manufacturing facilities and corporate headquarters located in Dearborn, Michigan.  SNA produces high quality flat-rolled carbon steel products - hot rolled, cold rolled, electrogalvanized and hot-dip galvanized - for customers in the automotive industry as well as for customers in the converter, service center and other related markets.  To increase its line of value-added products, SNA has formed a number of joint ventures with other steel companies. 

OAO Severstal is a vertically integrated producer of steel. Production facilities are located in Russia, Europe and the U.S. In 2008, company produced 19.2 million tons of steel.
