Azerbaijan, Israel to launch joint venture

Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Israeli Industry, Trade and Labor Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer discussed possibility of launching joint venture between the two countries, the Economic Development Ministry said.
The meeting focused on establishing pilot agricultural farm under Israeli technologies. Initial decision was made that the farm will be established in form of joint venture.
Mustafayev noted the importance of working meetings and business forums in order to expand trade, economic development and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Israel.
"Business forum attended by presidents of Azerbaijan and Israel will play a special role in the development of cooperation," Mustafayev said. "Events and concerned business community of both countries are an important step for the development of business relations."
Mustafayev noted the existence of Israel's deep experience of establishing manufacturing and processing enterprises in the fields of agriculture based on modern technology and called on Israel's business community to actively participate in projects in Azerbaijan to create agricultural farms, logistic centers, refrigerated warehouses and greenhouses.
"The business community of Israel may make investments in non-oil sector of Azerbaijan by expanding its cooperation with the Azerbaijan Investment Company, especially in sectors such as agriculture, information and communication technologies and health," Mustafayev said.
Ben-Eliezer said Israel is interested in expanding economic ties with Azerbaijan and expressed willingness of Israel to provide the necessary support to promote cooperation between the two countries.
Ben-Eliezer invited Azerbaijani economic development minister to the exhibition Watech on technologies in the agrarian sector to take place in Tel Aviv in November 2009.
