Georgia's foreign debt exceeds 5.5 billion lari

As of Oct. 31, 2009, Georgia's foreign debt and the total volume of credits under state guarantee hit 5.5 billion lari (1.68 lari is $1), the Georgian Finance Ministry reported.

Georgia owes 3,797,587 million lari to international financial institutions. The International Development Association (part of the World Bank group) brought credit to 1, 949,341 lari and the International Monetary Fund - 1,342,729 million lari.

Total debt of Georgia on the basis of bilateral agreements is 937,698 million lari.

Georgia's debt on attracted funds under Eurobonds is 839.5 million lari. The amount of debt on loans, attracted under state quarantine amounted to 11,971,000 lari.

In late September the country's external reached 5,536,699 million lari and in late October,2008 - 3,543,582 million lari.
