The countries which use the euro will take "determined, coordinated action" if it is necessary to keep the currency stable, the European Union's president said Thursday as EU leaders met to discuss Greece's budget woes.

The countries which use the euro will take "determined, coordinated action" if it is necessary to keep the currency stable, the European Union's president said Thursday as EU leaders met to discuss Greece's budget woes, DPA reported.

"The Greek government has not requested any financial support," Herman Van Rompuy stressed. Markets had speculated that the informal EU summit might offer Greece some form of immediate bail-out.
