The World Bank Ashgabat Office announced the opening of the 2010 Social Development Fund Program (PFSR) for non-commercial, public and non-academic organizations in Turkmenistan.
A WB press release reported that the PFSR's goal is to expand partnerships with civil society. In 2010, priority will be given to projects aimed at increasing youth participation in socio-economic development.
Grants may range up to $9,000. Proposals will be accepted until March 31, 2010.
The PFSR aims to support measures related to civic participation and strengthening the role of vulnerable and marginalized groups. Turkmenistan signed an agreement with the WB in September 1992. In 1996, the WB Ashgabat Office was opened.
