Azerbaijan's industrial production ups by 7 percent

In January-February 2010, the amount of industrial production in Azerbaijan hit 4.7 billion manat, which is 6.7 percent higher than the same period of 2009, the State Statistics Committee reported.

The amount of production in the extractive industry increased by 8 percent to 3.57 billion manat (with weight 76.7 percent).The specific weight of the processing industry hit 16.8 percent, gas and power engineering - 6.1 percent and water sector - 0.4 percent.

The growth of the oil production by AIOC hit 10.3 percent to 6.6 million tons and gas production - 6.3 percent to 1.8 billion cubic meters.

In January share of the private sector increased by 8.8 percent and hit 81.1 percent of the total industry production.

The amount of the production in processing industry amounted to 783.1 million manat. During the reported period, significant growth was observed in food production. The production of pasta in the country increased by 9.7 percent to 813.5 tons, meat - 3.9 percent (27,600 tons), milk - 3 percent (105,900 tons), butter - 0.9 percent (2,400 tons), jams and preserves - at 17.8 percent (1,200 tons) and margarine - 5.8 percent (3,200 tons).
