Relations between Jordan and Azerbaijan continue to develop, especially in the economic and trade fields, Azerbaijani ambassador to Amman Elman Arasli said at a press conference in the Jordanian capital on the occasion of the Republic Day of Azerbaijan.
Three visits of Jordan King Abdullah II to Azerbaijan over the past four years and the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Jordan led to signing 32 agreements, said the ambassador.
The volume of trade turnover over the last year increased to 43 percent, Azerbaijan has imported from Jordan vegetables, fruits and meat.
"Currently, steps are being taken to increase the trade turnover. Last year the volume of foreign trade increased by 43 percent, which is a good indicator, but the overall level still remains low, and we are working to expand the volume of trade," ambassador said.
According to him, much work has been done for the development of economic cooperation between the countries, in early February Amman hosted a meeting of Azerbaijan-Jordan economic commission, and the second meeting will take place in early autumn in Baku.
Amman and Baku also established direct air service, flights are carried out by Jordanian royal falcon, of which work will be resumed as soon as possible to transport goods and passengers, said Arasli.
