The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) with the participation of the Civil Service Academy under the president of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat has organized a workshop on economic zones, promoting trade, business and investment.

This course is addressed to leaders, representing state-owned enterprises, local authorities and the banking sector, the organizers said in a press release.

The event also covered aspects of the creation and development of industrial parks. "Development of the private sector and entrepreneurship is a priority for the Turkmen Government", the USAID Representative for Turkmenistan Ashley Moretz said at the certification ceremony for the training.

He also added that "working with the Civil Service Academy offers state managers access to business trainings that will help support an active private sector, including small- and medium-size enterprises (SMEs).

This training course is the second successful initiative of the USAID project for Economic Reforms to Enhance Competitiveness and the Civil Service Academy.  In March 2010, the project delivered a course on Econometrics and Applied Economic Analysis.
