Azerbaijan to fully cover domestic needs in eggs by late 2011

Azerbaijan will be able to fully cover the domestic needs in the tribal eggs and poultry by late 2011, executive director of the National Fund for Entrepreneurship Support (NFES) under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development Shirzad Abdullayev said.

"According to statistics, Azerbaijan produces up to 28 million eggs. As a result of implementation of eight investment projects on development of poultry farming, the production of 60 million eggs will be provided. It will fully meet the needs of the market," Abdullayev said.

He said that increase in egg production in Azerbaijan will have a positive impact on output of poultry meat, which is associated with the presence of broilers.

The country consumes 80,000 tons of poultry meat. Its volume will increase in future. It will allow exporting the meat.

Azerbaijan is provided with domestic production of poultry products by 74 percent.

The fund chose eight projects amounting to 26,9 million manat of thirteen.  

Two poultry farms among the selected projects are located in Khizi region of Azerbaijan, 3 - in Absheron, and one - in Imishli, Salyan, and Ismayilli regions.

On July 20, the official exchange rate is 0.8035 manat to $1.
