The construction of a bypass railway will begin in Tbilisi this week, the executive director of contractor Hidmsheni, Jimi Mikeladze, told media.
He said that part of the project is ready and construction will start in the Tbilisi district of Lilo.
The 30-km bypass railway will cost 290 million euros. Implementation is scheduled for 2010-2013.
The project is financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank and Georgian Railways.
