Georgian government negotiates with Renault

The Georgian government negotiates with Renault for electric cars, to be bought by the Georgian side, to be assembled in Georgia.

The government is developing a five-year program to assemble electric cars in the country, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Vera Kobalia said.

"It will much cheaper to use electric cars. We want to create more jobs. Therefore, we negotiate with Renault and other companies. We offer them to assemble the cars, which we intend to buy,  in Georgia. At this time, the government is developing a five-year program, including a draft of Green Georgia. Electric cars will be brought to the country within this project," minister said.

She said that Georgia will buy 1,000 electric vehicles in 2011.
