Volume of trade portfolio from Iranian border check point in Bilasuvar increased

The volume of trade portfolio from the Iranian border check point in Bilasuvar increased by 300 percent, the head of the customs administration of the Iranian province of Ardebil, Ali Asghar Abbaszadeh was quoted by the Iranian news agency FARS as saying.

He said that roughly 7,700 tons of goods were exported over the last ten months of the year (Iranian year ends on March 21) from the country through the Bilasuvar Border Check Point in the form of a portfolio trade. The cost of exported goods amounted to $6.63 million", Abbaszadeh said.

He said that roughly 570,000 people crossed the Bilasuvar Border Check Point over that period or 110 percent more compared to the same period of last year.

He noted that the goods worth 11,000 tons ($62.5 million) were exported and 39,000 tons of goods ($58.5 million) imported in Iran over the last ten months of this year through the Bilasuvar Border Check Point.

He also stressed that roughly 76,000 cars and trucks passed through the Bilasuvar Border Check Point over the last ten months of this year.

Iran has unilaterally abolished visa for Azerbaijani citizens. Azerbaijan citizens will not need a visa from February 1, 2010.
