The Azerbaijani State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents intends to prepare a national strategy to protect industrial rights and intellectual property, Chief Ramiz Hasanov said at a press conference today at the ruling New Azerbaijan Party.
"The strategy will be prepared with the support of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), with whose representatives it is planned to meet today to define priorities," Hasanov said.
He added that, afterward, work will begin to prepare the strategy.
The WIPO is an international organization engaged in the administration of a number of key international conventions on intellectual property, particularly the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works and the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property. Since 1974, it also acts as a specialized U.N. agency on issues of creativity and intellectual property.
