The Azerbaijani State Standardization, Metrology and Patents Committee intends to purchase a time standard next week, Chairman Ramiz Hasanov said at a press conference at the headquarters of the New Azerbaijan Party.

"Currently we are working on calibration and other procedures on the equipment purchased 3-4 months ago," Hasanov said. "This work is required for further use of a time standard."

Hasanov said earlier that the time standard is "strategically important." Its acquisition was planned in the twinning project "Assessment of standardization, metrology and conformity, and enhancement opportunities in the areas of accreditation by the Azerbaijani State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents," implemented jointly with the European Union. However, the Commission was unable to allocate funds for purchase of reference for this project, as the time standard is not performed in the EU. Currently, this model is manufactured in Russia and the United States, and the State Committee began discussions on purchasing it at its own expense, Hasanov said.
