Ukraine has offered Kazakhstan to establish a grain terminal on the Black Sea, Ukrainian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Oleg Demin told Trend.

"The issue of Kazakhstan's purchase of a grain terminal on the Black Sea is important to us. Our president offered to create a terminal on 50-50 basis. The areas to choose from include Crimea, Odessa or the Nikolaev region, where we have a deep-water port," Demin said.

Last year, Agriculture Minister Akylbek Kurishbayev said Kazakhstan needs to purchase a grain terminal on the Black Sea. Following the statement, Ukraine, Georgia, and Russia offered their ports.

"At a time when a similar proposal came from Russia, I see the resolution of the issue in the creation of a single grain pool including Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan," Demin said.

He said it is an urgent issue as the food problem today is important.

"Our three countries, which are among the largest grain producers, can play an important role in offering the world grain seaway transportation," Demin said.
