Turkmenistan, Iran to boost cooperation
Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, April 6 / Trend H.Hasanov /
Turkmenistan is developing international cooperation in water management, particularly with neighboring Iran, President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov said in a message to the Turkmen Water Management's employees on the occasion of their professional holiday.
"Turkmenistan's initiatives are broadly supported by neighboring countries. The construction of a water distribution center on the Tejen River together with the Islamic Republic is evidence of this face," Berdimuhammedov said.
The two countries have carried out one of the largest water-engineering regional projects on the border area -- the Dostluk Reservoir.
The Turkmen Water Resources Ministry reported that it was decided to build a water intake unit near the Shirdepe settlement in April 2008 to ensure the equitable distribution of the reservoir's stocks and to improve the water supply in the Serahsk district.
Turkmenistan carries out fruitful collaboration with several major international organizations on the use of water resources.
