Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov instructed the relevant departments "to pay attention to the construction of facilities for production of drugs and medical supplies on the basis of domestic raw materials", an official Turkmen source reported.
He said these projects will be incorporated in the state program developed by the medical industry of Turkmenistan for 2011-2015. It provides for the modernization of the industry.
The pharmaceutical activity is associated with the development, production, storage and sale of drugs.
Turkmenistan cooperates with India in this sphere. Ajanta Pharmaceuticals and the ministry have created a joint venture that produces over 80 types of medication.
Based on the plans, domestic pharmaceuticals should provide most of the country's need. According to experts, the further development of the pharmaceutical products market and its infrastructure maybe performed through the involvement of private capital into the health services sphere.
