The number of profitable banks in Azerbaijan decreased to 33 in June 2011. Compared to May, their number decreased by one, but compared to the same period of 2010 by three, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) said today.
According to the bank, the total bank profit was 79.82 million manat in June, which is 2.6 percent more than the figure for May.
The number of unprofitable banks as compared to May increased by one, and year on year by six. The 11 banks' losses amounted to 10.45 million manat, which is 30.8 percent less than the figure in May.
Some 44 banks operate in Azerbaijan.
