Tajikistan has increased the export of precious metals by 2.4 times, Avesta.Tj reported on Tuesday.
During the nine months of 2011, exports of precious and semiprecious metals made up about $50 million, which exceeded the figures for the same period in 2010 by more than $28.9 million
The Tajik Energy and Industry Ministry reported that the country plans to produce three tons of gold by the end of this year. The figure hit 920.5 kg of gold in the first half of 2011, KyrTAG reported.
The growth in the mining of precious metals during the period amounted to 20.8 per cent, which is more by 180.5 kg compared to the same period in 2010.
According to the Tajik Finance Ministry, eight gold mining companies with foreign investors operate in the country today.
The main buyers of precious metals within the country are the Finance Ministry and National Bank.
Meanwhile, the gold price on world markets reached a record high, and the troy ounce (31.1 grams) costing $1,900.
