The number of foreign tourists visiting Iran rose by 15 percent in the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (began March 21, 2011) compared to the same period last year, the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization director announced.
Over 1.8 million tourists traveled to Iran in the seven-month period despite all the propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran worldwide, Rouhollah Ahmadzadeh Kermani told the IRNA news agency.
Iran exported some $1 billion worth of handicrafts in last (calendar) year, he added.
