No GDP role for 70% of Iran’s economically active population

More than 70 percent of Iran's economically active population plays no role in its gross domestic product (GDP), Ilna News quoted a former representative of Iranian employers at the World Labour Organization (WLO) as saying.
Iran has 20 percent unemployment. Of those unemployed, 50 percent are young Iranians and half of them have university degrees, said Abbas Vatanpour. His comments followed remarks by a deputy to Iran's president that the number of the unemployed in the country was equal to the number of employed foreign nationals.
