3000 head of cattle slaughtered in Kazakhstan

In East Kazakhstan around 3000 head of cattle infected by foot-and-mouth disease have been slaughtered, a statement by the department for emergency situations of the East Kazakhstan province says on Thursday.

'As of Jan.4 in disease nidus (Urjar, Bahti, Karabutin rural districts) 1076 head of cattle and 1075 head of calves infected with food-and-mouth disease were slaughtered', the statement says adding that vaccination was still underway.

Apart from this, 64,677 head of cattle, 212,062 calves and 7175 heads of pigs were vaccinated.
