"Investment in fixed capital rose by 2.4 percent in January to December 2011 compared to the same period of 2010 and hit 4.985 trillion tenge ($33.57 billion)," Novosti-Kazakhstan quoted Smailov as saying.

According to Smailov, 31 percent of all investments were directed at the development of the mining industry, 18 percent at the transport sector and 10 percent at the processing industry.
