Saudi cement production increases by 13 percent

Saudi Arabia produced 48 million tons of cement in 2011, increase by 13 percent compared to previous year, the Islamic Students' News Agency (ISNA) reported.

The Arab world's biggest economy increased its cement production 15 percent, to 12.3 million tons, in the last three months of 2011.

Thirteen companies produce cement in Saudi Arabia.

Iran produces about 70 million tons of cement a year and is the biggest cement producer in the Middle East along with Turkey.
